I took a breath and I didn’t know if it made a difference.
Looking at the colors both light and dark
In equal measure that I both cared about and feared.
They were halos of blue surrounding twin black saucers of
I’m a child lost in a forest. Afraid of the Grendels and spiders
And unable to focus on the trees I pass because the forest is infinite.
I am a man that has met the monsters and been scarred by them
But as afraid as I am, they have not killed me yet.
I am reason and logic, looking for signs of a trail and knowing I am
Travelling the wrong way.
I am a sprite that takes wonderment at the forces of nature about me,
Loving the earth and its flora with a passion beyond words.
I breathe these in and look again, feeling the breath take hold finally,
Filling me with purpose.
I have hurt panicked and pushed. Adored and resented.
They have taught.
Those facets will find purchase in patience and love.
